How to Drink Applejack All-Year

When most people think about applejack, they immediately think about autumn. Leaves falling, apple picking, warm apple cider and of course applejack. But did you know that applejack can and should be served all-year long?

At Eight Oaks, we think applejack is a perfect spirit to use any time of the year. Follow this guide and start drinking applejack throughout the seasons.

Applejack in Winter

The Old-Fashioned is a wonderful cocktail, typically highlighting whiskey or bourbon. But applejack is a great substitute to keep you warm on a cold winter night. A classic old-fashioned combines the spirit with water, sugar, and bitters. Apple Brandy was used in old-fashioneds throughout the 19th and 20th century, but using our aged applejack will put a unique spin on this classic cocktail.

Applejack in Spring

Start spring off right with one of the most classic applejack cocktails: the Jack Rose.

The Jack Rose dates back to the 1920s. A beautiful combination of applejack, citrus and sweet grenadine. We recommend making your own grenadine instead of buying the store-bought stuff. Fresh ingredients are always the way to go, especially as everything is blooming around you.

Applejack in Summer

Did you know you can substitute applejack for any of your vodka cocktails in the summer? Applejack is a great way to put a signature spin on many classic cocktails. Try using applejack in your next martini or sidecar. You could even add applejack to a classic cosmopolitan to make a cranberry-apple cocktail that is out of this world.

Summer is all about refreshing drinks. Applejack is especially great to add to a classic iced tea. Try our Tessa’s Tea next time you are here. A classic mix of tea, lime juice, honey and mint-infused applejack. You will want to drink this cocktail all summer long!

Our COO Carly swears by an applejack and lemonade in the summer as well!

Applejack in Autumn

In the fall, you can enjoy applejack in its splendor. It’s the time to get creative with applejack. Consider combining it with your favorite autumn herbs like time, rosemary, or sage. Make something new, or continue enjoying the applejack cocktails you have been making all-year round.

Cheers!
