Meet the Crew: Julie
Julie’s been a part of the Eight Oaks family since November 2016 when the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market store opened.
She has an amazing background, which includes a studio art degree and a Master’s Degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. For the last 22 years Julie focused on being a mom to four awesome kids. Her favorite spirit is our Authentic Applejack, and that’s one of the reasons Julie works for Eight Oaks.
Julie’s Journey to Eight Oaks
Julie’s dad passed away in 2016 and she found herself at a crossroads. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to go back to teaching or just find a part-time job close to home. Julie and her husband Rob live in New Tripoli, and both her dad and grandfather were farmers there.
One day she walked into the distillery and met Carly who, “was the sweetest thing I ever saw” and Julie fell in love with the atmosphere. So, she grabbed Chad’s card, headed home, looked at our website–loved the whole vibe even more–and then discovered Eight Oaks distilled Applejack.
It was a sign.
Rumor was Julie’s Dad also made Applejack back in his day, and she thought he would get a kick out of this. Add in that she’s a farmer’s daughter and granddaughter and owns a 75 acre farm in New Tripoli and it seemed like a good fit.
Since they aren’t farmers Julie and Rob rent their farmland out, but she does have three chickens and is trying her hand at bees this year.
In her free time Julie loves to hike, garden, or basically do anything outdoors. You’ll find her spending time with her kids and home projects with Rob. Their next project is tackling a vacant cabin built in 1845 on their property.
Julie constantly listens to music and probably around 95% of those songs are by Tom Petty.
Next time you head to Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market stop in and say hi to Julie!
Cheers!
