Eight Things We’re Thankful for this Thanksgiving

For many reasons, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. There’s no pretense—you don’t get all stressed out about buying gifts, you simply surround yourself with friends and family, share a meal, and reflect on all the things you are grateful to have in your life.

When I think about what I’m personally thankful for this year, it is simply time. Time that I get to spend with family and friends, and for the time each day I get to do what I love.

When I think about what I’m thankful for at Eight Oaks, there are many, so this year I thought I’d distill those down to eight, and share them with you.

  1. Family. When I think back to how it all started, Jodi and I knew we wanted to do something as a family, and here we are, Pa’s first veteran-owned, family-run, modern farm distillery. I get to work with family every day, and couldn’t be happier.

  2. Our Crew. Every business needs people. When we first started Eight Oaks, I thought I was this lone wolf, entrepreneurial spirit, who would solve all the issues on his own. I was way off—we couldn’t do it without our crew, but there are so many others that helped bring this dream to life, from our Board of Directors, our contractors, IT support, data analysts, marketing pros, electricians, plumbers, insurance agents, bankers, farmers, designers, suppliers, government agencies, UPS drivers, and so many more. We wouldn’t be here without all of their expertise. Thank you all.

  3. The Lehigh Valley. We’re grateful to work in Lehigh Valley, and especially grateful for this soil in which our grains grow so well. With the huge support of our friends at Newhard Farms, we harvest abundant crops of local grain that are the backbone of our award-winning spirits. From our farm to your glass.

  4. Our nonprofit partners. Our purpose is to help make our community a better place, and I’m proud that we partner with three wonderful organizations, two locally, and one nationally, which allows us to meet our purpose. The Cancer Support Community of Greater Lehigh Valley, Parkland CARES Food Pantry, and Farmer Veteran Coalition, are out front, impacting lives daily. A part of every one of your purchases helps support one of these three incredible organizations.

  5. Lifelong Learning. I love to learn, if we’re not getting better every day we’re doing something wrong. I’m thankful for the opportunities that allow me and our crew to keep honing our craft. I’m especially thankful for the work our leadership team did with Cheyenne at Compass Point. Our team wrapped up a great session in 2021, and we’re even stronger and more focused than before.

  6. Our community partners. We love this area, and a part of that has to do with all the wonderful people and organizations that make up the Lehigh Valley. A special thank you to Discover Lehigh Valley (Alicia and Alyssa!), our dear friends at ASR Media, and Lehigh Valley Style magazine.

  7. New Tripoli Area. We love you Wanamakers General Store, The Nesting Box, Curious Goods at Bake Oven Inn, New Tripoli Bank, Feinours Automotive, Old Homestead Golf Course, The Buttered Crumb Bakery, and so many others!

  8. Most importantly, you. If it weren’t for your support we wouldn’t get the opportunity to do what we do every day. Thanks aren’t enough.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season.

Cheers.

Chad
