A history presentation by Bradly Smith

In the 1700s and early 1800s, many Pennsylvania Germans distilled whiskey and brandy using ingredients from their farms including rye, corn, apples, and peaches. Join Bradley Smith for a discussion about the prevalence of small farm distilleries, including distilleries of Albany Township, and their importance to our region’s local economy.

About the speaker:

Bradley Smith is one of the foremost professional historians in eastern Pennsylvania, currently the Curator of the Ephrata Cloisters and recently Assistant Director of the Berks History Center. He holds a Masters Degree in History and is a longtime adjunct history professor, as well as a Pennsylvania Duthch language teacher.

Whiskey tasting and light refreshments will follow the presentation, hosted by 8 Oaks Distillery, New Tripoli, PA.
